Guiding

As an Apprentice Alpine Guide, I work through several companies around BC and Alberta, and am certified to guide you up rock and and ice climbs, and mountaineering objectives, as well as to teach you the skills to climb without a guide. My goal is to meet my guests wherever they are at in their climbing journey, from helping total beginners get comfortable on their first climbs, to working with experienced climbers looking to take their skills to the next level. But don’t just take my word for it! Here’s what some of the folks I’ve worked with in the past have to say:

I had an incredible ice climbing experience in Banff! Our guide, James K., was outstanding—super knowledgeable, patient, and made sure everyone felt safe and confident on the ice. He shared great tips and kept the day fun and engaging. Highly recommend this adventure for anyone looking to try something new in the Rockies!

Booked a solo multipitch day near the end of the season. The team was great at figuring out a plan despite limited options due to the colder weather. James was a great guide, giving little tips and tricks throughout the day. I appreciate the thoughtfulness in the creating a good experience!

Even with the rain, James was able to offer an amazing course packed with lots of learning and great feedback. He was also able to answer all of my questions regardless of how advanced they were beyond the course I was taking.

Highly recommend! Had the BEST time with James as my guide. I’ve done some indoor climbing and really wanted to explore outdoor. I sent 3 routes and rappelled, felt safe the whole time and can’t wait to do it again!
